Since February 2025, an amendment to the Lex Ukraine Act has been in force, which may have quite significant consequences for the employment of foreigners in the Czech Republic. After the amendment came into effect, temporary protection began to expire for persons who have their place of residence registered with the authorities. This step has significant implications – from labor relations and immigration status to health and social insurance. However, employers are completely unaware of this problem, and what’s more, the foreigners themselves are also unaware of it. What can be done about it? We will tell you.
At the same time, from October 1, 2025, a new concept of so-called undeclared work will appear, along with stricter obligations to report the employment of foreign employees to the relevant regional branch of the Labor Office before they start work.
